Up to $6,000 Available for Health Equity Case Studies

The Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) are seeking faculty proposals to create educational case studies on the social determinants of health (SDOH).

This is a great opportunity to show other health professions how PA educators are teaching their students about health equity and the SDOH.

Each case study should be aimed at “deepening health professions students’ understanding of the SDOH,” for example, teaching them how to:

  • Identify social factors that impact the health of their patients and communities
  • Include community-based and other social services and programs in the care of their patients
  • Understand how the choices and civic/community engagement of health professionals can impact the health of patients and of populations.

Submitted case studies should include some form of assessment and an instructor guide. The four winning case studies will be adapted for online use and promoted by APTR and other organizations.

Faculty who submit the winning case studies will be awarded up to $6,000 each for their development. Proposals are due by 11:59 p.m. on October 25, and winners will be announced by November 15. For more information or to submit a case study, check out the request for proposals.
