The COVID-19 pandemic has caused meaningful changes to our lives and to PA programs, faculty, and students. We have created several resources to help member programs prepare for and administer End of Rotation TM exams during this unprecedented time. The updates expand the scope of proctor resources available and should prove useful to all programs.
Note: We encourage you to review our FAQ on the waived proctor policies for End of Rotation exams to frame the long-term impact of these changes on the exam.
To encourage a seamless setup, PAEA created a proctor checklist to offer guidance for faculty to proctor exams and to provide insight for a third–party proctor. The checklist focuses on key areas: scheduling and preparation, technology requirements, environment security, proctor controls, and policies and procedures. Using the same five key areas, we have also created a student checklist to help ensure students are prepared for the exam. With these two checklists, both proctors and students have additional information necessary to prepare for and execute a successful remote examination.
To complement information on our Knowledge Base, PAEA created an instructions page about remote proctoring of End of Rotation exams. This includes instructions to set up and execute the exam both before and the day of an exam and approved remote proctoring solutions, which include third-party proctors (Examity, MonitorEDU, and ProctorU) approved for use with our assessment policies. This resource also includes instructions for video conferencing solutions (Microsoft Teams, WebEx, and Zoom) while the requirement for high-security remote proctoring tools are temporarily waived.
Finally, we are working on three videos that review the preparation and execution of online exams that provide insight into the process and address concerns for all parties involved. The videos will be added to the proctor resources page — look for them in the coming weeks. These will be a key addition to understand the importance of a thorough remote proctoring process for online exams.
