One important issue facing the PA profession at the moment is the clinical doctorate. In 2007, the PAEA membership passed a motion asking the board to develop a mechanism to consider whether or not the PA profession "should consider endorsing an entry-level doctorate and the implications of this change for our profession." To tackle this issue in a comprehensive way and make an informed recomendation, PAEA has partnered with the American Academy of Physician Assistants to hold a summit meeting to be attended by representatives from  a wide variety of perspectives and professions.
